AI Meal Planner ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting the privacy of our users. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use the AI Meal Planner mobile application ("the App"), how we use that information, and the choices you have regarding your data.

By downloading or using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. This policy covers the AI Meal Planner app available on iOS and Android platforms.

2. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information to provide and improve the App:

Account Information

If you create an account, we collect your email address and, if provided, your name. You may use the App anonymously (with limited features) without creating an account.

Health & Fitness Data

To deliver core features, we collect meal photos you submit for scanning, the nutritional data derived from those scans, your dietary goals (e.g., weight loss, muscle gain, calorie targets), and your meal scan history and saved recipes.

Usage Data

We collect information about how you interact with the App, including which screens you view, which features you use, session duration, and the app version you are running.

Device Data

We collect device type (phone or tablet), operating system version, and your device locale (language/region settings).

Location Data

We collect country-level location data derived from your IP address. We do not collect precise GPS location data.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide AI-powered meal scanning and instant nutritional analysis
• Generate personalized recipes matched to your dietary goals and macros
• Display your nutrition stats, macro tracking, and weekly meal planner
• Improve the accuracy and performance of the App
• Send optional notifications (only if you grant permission)
• Process subscription payments and manage your account
• Respond to support requests

4. Third-Party Services

We use trusted third-party services to operate the App. Each service has its own privacy policy governing their use of data:

Supabase

We use Supabase for database storage and user authentication. Your account data and meal history are stored securely in Supabase. Privacy policy: supabase.com/privacy.

OpenAI

When you scan a meal, the image is sent to OpenAI's API for AI-powered nutritional analysis. Meal images are processed by OpenAI and are not stored by OpenAI beyond the duration of the API request. Privacy policy: openai.com/policies/privacy-policy.

RevenueCat

We use RevenueCat to manage in-app subscriptions and billing. RevenueCat receives anonymized purchase data to validate and manage your subscription status. Privacy policy: revenuecat.com/privacy.

5. Data Retention

We retain your account data and meal history for as long as your account remains active. If you delete your account from within the App Settings, all of your personal data — including your scan history, dietary goals, saved recipes, and account information — is permanently and irreversibly deleted.

Anonymized, aggregated usage data may be retained for product improvement purposes even after account deletion, as this data cannot be linked back to you.

6. Data Security

We take the security of your data seriously. We implement industry-standard security measures, including:

• TLS (Transport Layer Security) encryption for all data in transit
• Encryption at rest for all stored data
• Supabase Row Level Security (RLS) to ensure users can only access their own data

No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. We will notify you of any material data breach as required by applicable law.

7. Children's Privacy

AI Meal Planner is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal data, please contact us at support@aimealplanner.app and we will delete that information promptly.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

• Right to access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
• Right to correction: Request correction of inaccurate data.
• Right to deletion: Request deletion of your data (or delete your account directly in the App).
• Right to data portability: Request your data in a portable format.
